Two guided tours on electronic
art and architecture within the context of the Montreal
Days of Culture.
n the framework of one of Louis Pelletier's courses*
(part of the diplôme d'études supérieures
spécialisées en design d'événements
de l'UQAM/graduade Diploma spezialized in Event Design,
UQAM), a group of students will offer interpretive
tours that will facilitate the understanding of certain
works in relation to the artists' approaches and the
architectural and urban context of the event. These
free tours will serve as a stepping stone to reflect
on the role that multi-media works have on our perception
of an obsolete industrial icon such as the des Carrières
incinerator.
*Louise Pelletier, Ph.D is an architect by training.
She is the author of several publications and teaches
courses at UQAM.
Founded in 2000, the Graduate Diploma in Event Design
is a unique program in Canada that offers both a specialized
(design and architecture) and interdisciplinary education
(it is open to candidates who have received a degree
in object and graphic design, architecture, scenography,
fine arts, museology and other disciplines that contribute
to event-based projects). The program is a laboratory
for exploration and reflection that seeks to impart
practical and theoretical knowledge, as well as technical
skills that are required for the creation of cultural
events.
At the entrance of the site a tour itinerary will
be offered to the visitors. The visitors can chose
between two different tours: the amateur tour created
for youngsters and those who are not familiar with
contemporary art; the confirmed tour reserved for
those who have previous knowledge of contemporary
art practices. These free tours will be on September
24, 25 and 26 at 2 pm and 4 pm in the frame
