PRESENTATION

Under the patronage of UNESCO and the United Nations, C!ME is presented as part of the International Year of Mountains and is the continuation of a series of artistic events that have been taking place on the Island of Montreal from September 2002 to April 2003.

Champ Libre has invited five Montreal artists and the architecture workshop OUPROPO to occupy the 3,500 square meters of 1, Place Ville-Marie’s main hall in order to interpret the symbolism of the mountain from an artistic and architectural perspective.

All the while evoking the interactive dynamic that the Mont-Royal plays in the perception and imaginary of the city, the C!ME event also seeks to recreate an experience of the mountain that combines vertigo, disorientation and images frozen in time.
