Faithful
to its mandate that aims to create events that set in relation
architecture, urban contexts and technological arts, CHAMP
LIBRE proposes from the 15th till the 19th of June
2005, to hold in the Chinese neighborhood of Montréal
known under the name of Chinatown, an in situ, electronic
art, micro event lasting five days entitled: TERRE
NOMADE/NOMAD' S LAND.
During this event will be presented Quebecois, Canadian and
International new media artworks in relation with the architecture
of Chinese North American neighborhoods, either having been
created by originally Asian Quebecois or Canadian artists,
or because the artists that created the works address the
Asian culture. Champ Libre will be all the more attentive
to particularly strong artworks which, presented in the chosen
site, will be enhanced by or will enhance certain aspects
of it. This event will take place on the very inspiring Sun
Yat-Sen square in Montréal that was renovated in 2002
by the Montreal architect’s collective MEDIUM
(www.wherever.com).
An inter-active staging will be proposed for the presentation
of the artistic works as well as a lecture on the interaction
between architecture and new media arts in the presence of
the artists and architects linked to the event.
