ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Venezuela, John Londoño works and lives in Montreal.
He has a college degree in photography from the Cégep du
Vieux-Montréal and a diploma in Fine Arts of Concordia University.
In 2000, he carries off the first prize of the Lux Quebec student
category two times
and has since then participated in many collective exhibitions.
He was also in charge of the photographic exhibition “Translucide”
presented during the last summer in the Maison de la culture Frontenac.
His artistic research mainly explores the intimate and comes generally
from autobiographical motivations. His actual projects lean towards
the ambiguity of the frontier between real and fictional. According
to him, since we are situated somewhere between weightlessness and
lucidity, we experience differently this demarcation.
PRESENTED WORK
“OH...”, SLIDESHOW AND VIDEO, QUEBEC, 2004
‘“A technical and industrial
civilisation, by lacks and pollutions that it creates, can revive
the need, the anguish and the appetite for signs that talk.”
Jules Gritti, inquiry for the CRIC, 1976.
Inspired of this citation, the theme of water will be expressed
in a triptych slideshow form. Personnal photographies, in connection
with our relation to the water, will be in confrontation to the
images taken from the medias and with the audience presents at the
event. The image of these individuals will be broadcasted in real
time in the centre of the other images projected (personnal and
media). Therefore, the audience will be integrated to the evoked
problematics and will play an active role by being placed in the
centre of these contrasting photographies that raise opposite concepts
: violence-peace, desire-aversion, life-death...
